Inmarsat's next-generation dual-mode satellite phone and GSM mobile mobile phone. The contract, which expands EMS's marketplace focus beyond aeronautical broadband, is for approximately $26 million.
The new cellular phone will assistance both terrestrial GSM and GMR-2+ satellite operation, and using an omni antenna will detect whether a user is inside a mobile coverage area and, if not, automatically switch for the international satellite network.
